Yes indeed. That cow Shirley Williams has said that he was 'Hard Left (untrue) and could never have led Labour to victory'.
At a time when even Mrs Thatcher has been generous in tribute, this just sums Williams up and all those Liberal/SDP bastards.
It wasn't Michael who kept Labour out of power for years, it was Williams, Owen, Rogers and co who left and formed their own party - thereby single-handedly causing the defeat of 1983.
I joined the party during that election - and remember Michael's courage and grace touring up and down the country in the battle bus, knowing his legs had been cut from beneath him by Williams and co and the bloody Alliance.
It is about time that Labour stopped cosying up to the Liberals - filth, filth - epitomised by their house journal, The Guardian.
Michael was better than that - he and Barbara, Harold and co created a society that even the Thatcher years couldn't destroy.
Rest in Peace indeed - the party is for ever in his debt.
Many democratic left wingers are also Blairites, because they have a socilaist vision, unlike the extreme left, who are really of the extreme right. There was much that was decent and genuine about Michael Foot, but he ruined his standing by sharing platforms with Enoch Powell on Europe and the Lords.
I think Jane likes me, and I'm a left-winger. I like Jane, too. Of course Michael Foot has good Reading connections. Went to leighton Park and was a great friend and comrade of Ian Mikardo

You come to bury Michael Foot, not to praise him, because he was a left-winger and you abhor left-wingers.
ooh, do I? thanks for telling me. LibDems I can't stand, deffo.
Maybe the Labour Party should re-introduce Clause 4 Part 4 in his honour.....
You certainly give that impression. Your blog is devoted mainly to rubbishing left-wingers and praising Blairites.
is that right? which left-wingers and which Blairites?

I don't think that J is on a mission to 'rubbish left-wingers and praise Blairites.'
She just doesn't like tossers .
Your problem?
Last night on BBC2, after Newsnight, they re-ran the magnificent documentary "Labour's Old Romantic: A Film Portrait of Michael Foot".
"She just doesn't like tossers" might well become a strap-line for this blog, Jane!
Fabulous. Absolutely!
I look forward to Jane making it a strap line. It says so much in such economic fashion.
