The Door Into Summer

is the title of a book by Robert Heinlein that I liked a lot when I was much younger. It is about a cat (sort of), and the title comes from the cat asking to be let out and when it rains asking at different doors, hoping to find the door into summer. Anyway, this post is not about that book, but about another book of his, which is going into the personal library I am building, Stranger in a Strange Land. Norm has this by the Australian clever bloke Russell Blackford on that book. I used to read a lot of science fiction, them days. My brother and I used to get the Gollancz ones with the yellow covers out of the library and devour them every week. Not now. But some of it can change your life. An easy question for you lovely readers: what film was based on a book called (my favourite science fiction title I think) "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"?

The (vastly overrated) Blade Runner, of course!

Blade Runner!

Easy! It's Bladerunner. The book was written by Philip K. Dick, who wrote a lot of good other stuff as well. More accurately, he had a lot of great sci-fi ideas, but the execution was a bit patchy.

TaLking of Dicks - a further independent witness to accommodation issues is needed to make it a runner - otherwise more difficult.

Has it been sorted?

I understand, further to my last post, that additional sources are being provided to testify.
Without accommodation it can be a naughty night to swim in...

I was invited to the Porvoo conference, which is in Vienna 27th/28th of this month. Wrong city, wrong country, but, Jane, thanks for the invite. Also no money in the UK for eID (which is what Porvoo is about - HO doesn't do eID, which lacuna is the death knell of the ID card here).
