shut the woman up

Basher, posting about a stand in Reading set up by the English Defence League, says he wondered if they had permission to set it up, and that he contacted "the Labour Party" (wtf? if you want to know if a stall in Broad St has permission to be there you contact the council, not the Labour Party.  Oh.)  Following which, it having been established that they had no permission to be there, they were moved on by the police.  Good that they were moved on, not so good Basher for giving this group such top publicity.  Including a picture of their activists on the stall.  When, because they were moved on, nobody much would otherwise have noticed they were there.  But hey, the punch-'em-in-the-face school of politics was ever close to your heart, hein?  Soul mates.  Separated at birth.  Political idiocy.

Is what is below, quoted from the same post, a conscious or unconscious self-revelation on Basher's part in his own description of his treatment of his wife?

Kath, my wife and I, saw the stand as we were walking through town after a very nice lunch together.  She was so angry I had to hold her arm to stop her saying something.

Frightening.  Get help.

Broad Street is usually full of stalls and people handing out leaflets on Saturdays. Today the EDF had a table with their St George's flag, and several young men handing out glossy leaflets advertising their demonstration in Reading next Saturday, without specifying the time, location or contact details, so they were useless.

There are often stalls from evangelical Christians, various Muslims, trots, political parties and campaigns on issues such as AV and the climate.

The nastiest stall is often one from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, which stocks racist literature, illegally flies a foreign flag on its own (i.e. without a union flag), openly collects money (breaking local by-laws) and has posters saying "End the Israeli Occupation", which means get rid of Israel.

Yes I know what Broad Street is like on a Saturday and I know what the Palestine Solidarity Campaign is. Point accepted. But my point was a little different. Which I think you knew.

Why have you got a poll asking who the next Reading Labour leader will be?

Do you know something the rest of us don't?

As for Basher well words fail me.

He could always lock her up in the attic.

There are also usually stalls with animal torture porn from China 20 years ago.

Often the result of a 'very nice lunch', is either a period in the police cells or in the accident and emergency wing of a hospital.

"As for Basher well words fail me."

As someone commented before, he does not look like the only one in the Reading political scene who is prone to resorting to those methods if things do not go their way, especially if a woman is the object of the wrath. Any suspects out there any one?? Don't be shy or does the likelyhood of retribution put you off?

Only government buildings must fly union flag in addition to other country flag. If you have a flagpole in your garden you can fly a European or Commonwealth country flag whenever you like. You need planning permission for other kinds though.

So flying a Palestine flag from a flagpole without pp would break the law but I doubt they use a pole on a temporary stall in Broad Street .

"Under Schedule 1 Class H of the Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007, national flags, the flags of the Commonwealth, European Union, the United Nations, English counties and certain saints can be flown without the express consent of local authorities as long as they satisfy the standard conditions for the display of advertisements generally and the conditions and limitations set out within Class H itself.
For saints' flags, the conditions are that they can only be flown in the county with which the saint is associated. This means that the St Piran's flag may be flown freely in Cornwall, but express consent would be required for it to be flown elsewhere in England.
For further advice about planning permission around flags and also flag poles please contact your local authority."

A Nepalese restaurant owner was refused pp to fly gurkha regiment flag from pole on the roof of his restaurant because it was deemed advertising and that be already had plenty of advertising signage.

And so the politicalisation of the police continues.

One assumes Macca has no such urges when the "wipe Israel off the map" brigade are out collecting ?
