a girl in Reading East?

my little poll has shown some remarkable developments in the last day or two.  From looking like a two-horse race between Martin Salter and Tony Jones, just as Salter pulled ahead the GIRL tendency surged into the lead, from nowhere,  VERY interesting.  Have there been unforeseen changes in Reading Labour?  I think we should be told.  Last time a GIRL was selected from a non-all-female shortlist - well, we know what happened.  The seat was won from the Tories and held at the next election with an increased majority.  Never again, they said.  We're not having THAT.  Have they come to their senses now, hein?

No . Of course not. They just miss the wonderful experience of persecuting one over an eight year elctoral cycle - and the sadistic sexual kick it gave them. All that orgasmic complaining to the NEC and successive Chief Whips. All that arousal-at-a-remove business of contacting Matthew Norman and Marina Hyde of The Filth - even Pants on Fire McGuire at The Daily Mirror. And Darcus Howe at The New Statesman. And the final climax of the DE-SELECTION CONFERENCE!!!! After a high like that - life can never be lived in the low lane again. Or the slow lane. They want to experience the thrills all over again. Or maybe they have been reading 'What they do in the dark' by Amanda Coe. Same difference.

Read the comment above, Anonymous.

JG in any case would not want a nasty semi semi marginal.

Not even a top drawer one with THAT CLP.

I echo that! And wasn't Howarth some loony tunes who hit his wife if she so much as batted an eyelid - instead of battering a pancake?

( Do you mean buttering? Ed)

No - I mean battering - as in pancakes and people.

I thought that was Basher but who cares about accuracy when there is mud to be slung.

And I thought it was the previous Mrs Howarth who did the throwing of plates around.

Unless there is a very late surge, the Girl has it by at least a head and two paws.

I wonder whether Anne Moffat would like to apply.
