more girls from the golden West

seen on a train from Penzance to London Paddington today, former Labour MPs for constituencies in the south-west of England Candy Atherton and Linda Gilroy. Both appeared on fine form and were looking good. One of them said to me "There is a good life after Parliament". Not only was she right, but life appeared to have been good to her since she left. Excellent to see them both again.

I loathed them both! Up themselves. Very patronising to the lesser mortals amongst us - the lowest rungs of MPdom!!

Linda's not my favourite person, but she worked, and still works, bloody hard for Plymouth and the Labour Party.

Well, I wish I had.

Jane, your journeying in England reminded me that you were once writing up your mother's life as a blog...

in fact my mother started writing her own blog, with memories of her earlier life, but she gave it up. However she is still willing and able to talk her memories, and has done plenty of it lately.

Ex-MPs should have the experience to land good jobs. They also leave with enough money, so they do not have take any job that is available.

The people who suffer are their constituents who lose a Labour MP and a Labour government.

There are plenty of key, interesting and top roles for former Ministers. Not so easy for backbenchers though.
Wanna try it?
