is it because I is a blogger?

Basher McKenzie has this:

So now we know, there is a cost for everything. If you publish abuse, racist cant and libel about your opponents it will catch up with you. Swaine is disgraced and will have to start again to rebuild his tarnished reputation. The rest of Reading's political bloggers should take note

Stopped beating your wife Basher?

"The rest of Reading's political bloggers should take note."

Does Dicky c(o)unt himself as one of those, however unwisely?

Of course Richard McKenzie doesn't have the balls to allow comments on his blog. He can dish it but he can't take it, just like most other bullies.

He is such a hypocrite, he who has brought disgrace on himself many a time but still persists in his desperate struggle to get back into public office so he can one day use his email address cllrricmck@... legitimately!

Google Richard McKenzie and you can find the time he insulted a World War Veteran at a ward surgery (before he was booted out by the good people of Kentwood in West Reading)

You really are an unpleasant old bag, aren't you Jane? You know perfectly well that he came to you for advice about his wife's epilepsy, and you started putting it about - whilst you were still an MP - that he was a wife beater on the basis that he was friends with Salter.

You are an embarrassment to the people you once represented and the Labour Party. No wonder they both ditched you.

Damn. He said he would forgive those "not being brave enough to tell me their worries face to face." In avoiding a beating on a public street, I'll have him praying for me now. Jesus f**king christ.

I'm obviously missing something about McKenzie. He seems quite lovely when he isn't talking politics, but then this stuff about his past bubbles up and he looks 90% less huggable.

I'm just reading his recent posts. Small wonder he was waiting for something to get passionate about. January includes a brief period where tories standing in a room with tories from about twelve miles away clearly became a genuine highlight.

Still don't understand what "cant" in this sentence means.

Or am I being thick (or racist)?

Meanwhile over on Rachel Eden's blog we have the "John things well.".

I don't understand that one either (hopefully that doesn't make me a racist either).

anonymous 1447, whoever you are, let us have some facts. If Basher McKenzie has authorised you to give out details of what he consulted his MP about some years ago, so be it. Nothing was said by me, while I was an MP or later. What people say to their MP should be kept confidential by the MP - the constituent is at liberty to tell whoever they like whatever they like. I had no idea Basher was friends with Salter, I have never seen them together or heard about this, but if you say so then I guess it must be true. Quite frankly I couldn't care less. I said nothing at all about Basher while I was an MP, and have not called him a wife-beater. It is a matter of public record that Basher McKenzie has engaged in aggressive and violent behaviour in public places. The casual misogyny in your comment "old bag" is typical, which is why I leave it in. Finally, the nickname "Basher" was coined by me on my blog, in 2005, after I stood down from Parliament, and remains in wide use in Reading, largely because it is apt.

and another thing - the people of Reading East did not "ditch" their MP in 2005, they elected one, as they do at every election. I have never lost an election, hence have never been "ditched" by any electorate.

Mr Mckenzie aka Basher isn't the only active Labour party member in Reading who has form for violence against women.

Anonymous 10.19 - who else? Lazy boy Hartley?

Anonymous said...

No not Hartley.

The Labour Patry is, sadly, frightened of strong and effective communicators who happen to be women and will do all it possibly can to prevent them standing as Labour candidates and representing the Party as MPs.
This is what happened to Jane.

No - of course Jane was not ditched by the people - and how telling and, indeed, revealing, it is that the word 'embarassment' is hawked out and thrown at Jane?
She has never done anything to 'embarass' the Labour Party. Of course, the list of those who HAVE is quite legion. I will not waste poster space here by listing the names of Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet/Shadow Ministerial/grandee/PPC and approved list figures who have both done that and continue to do it. It is far too 'embarassing' for the individuals for me to provide names - but - just for the record ---- Jane never fell off a bar stool whilst accepting a drink from a stranger who she then decided to shack up with for the night;she never collapsed inside the mens' loos at the Commons and had to be hoisted into a taxi; she never threw up and collapsed in a lift; she never assaulted a colleague (two) in the bar at the Commons or offered a colleague money for sex.
Neither did she view porn on public money;accuse the Prime Minister of being a violent bully; hold the Cabinet to ransom whilst demanding a job as the price of loyalty.Or banjax a whole national election by 'rocking the boat' on a smug resignation plus tv coverage and cheapo badge. Or behave in an 'unparliamentary' manner with an officer; hack into a colleague's computer;serve on a Tory think tank ; lie about expenses; involve a dodgy company in providing 'friendly literature' for the Labour Party - trading, indeed, in Commons' Meeting Rooms.
Or take illegal drugs and have sex with whatever is moving at all times of the day and night.

So - WHAT IS NOT TO LIKE??????????

The old bag' jibe is just so much cheap garbage.

Salter accused Jane of being menopausal in a national newspaper. The insults don't change and the Party doesn't learn. But the voters are like elephants - they tend to remember. And they know what they like. They like it HUMAN; CLEVER; REAL. Not Annelieses - not Edens. But a bit of a Griffiths?
Yeah - they'll go for that. Actually - THEY DID.

Anonymous 17.47 then who? Male or female? Councillor or non-elected? Are you talking Howarth? Though I always had a bit of respect for him, that is until he chickened out and stepped down rather than face the music.

Anonymous said...

The individual with the 'form' previously referred to is male
nor is he an elected councillor.

He however a friend of Salters'
who is active in RLP, the newly
reconstituted RTUC and one of
the RBC Unions.

Anonymous said...

Anyway, when's Warren Swaine off to join the Tories then?

Anonymous said...

Anon 11.27: but he was an elected Councillor at one time, right? Possibly for a long time and lost his seat or did not stand again (most probably knowing he would not stand a chance). There are 1 or 2 candidates for your description. Ar least help us narrowing it down by telling us which RBC Unions does HE belong to? Suspense is killing us...

Anonymous said...

Unison

Anonymous said...

Right, Unison is one Union. Does he belong to another? Narrowing it right down that's all...hoping my guess is spot on. That would be sheer pleasure. You see, always an idea about that particular fellow! The eyes tell it all! Shiver down my spine as I speak..

Anonymous said...

Tony Jones, but there are others

I don't see Warren jumping ship to the Tories

Anonymous said...

Had a chat with Warren once, he is a libertarian and I suppose to a certain extent that is common ground with some Tory faction but that stops there! He seemed also to have a good sense of right and wrong. Obviously others did not like that!

Tony Jones, you don't say! I had someone else in mind. My suspension is still strong..

Anonymous said...

No not 'independent' Jones as far as i know.

The other Warren said...

From my discussions with Warren i would say he is a liberal, a trade unionist and a principled guy.
